Yali Wright

Piano

Born in Kaohsiung, a large city in southern Taiwan, Yali Wright began studying piano when she was five years old. Becoming a music teacher was her dream from childhood. When she was a teenager, she became interested in Japan and Japanese culture. So after graduating from high school, she went to Japan as an international student with the full blessing of her parents.

In Japan, Yali earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Piano from Senzoku Gakuen University, where she received an academic scholarship. Here main teachers were Yuko Yendo and Professor Yaeko Yamane.

While in Japan she became the choir accompanist for Myogadani Christ Church of Tokyo. She also gave piano lessons to some of her friends. At Myogadani Church she met her future husband, Kenneth Wright, an American missionary working at the church.

After graduating, she moved to Shizuoka, Japan, and began working toward a Masters degree in Music Education at Shizuoka University, to which she received a full scholarship. Yali continued teaching piano lessons and continued volunteering at Myogadani Church.

Upon graduation she returned to Taiwan and began teaching piano lessons. She also began making preparations for getting married and moving to the United States. In 1999 Yali moved to Greater Cincinnati, and in 2000 started teaching at Cincinnati Music Academy. Shortly thereafter she also started her own piano studio in Fairfield.

In addition to providing weekly piano lessons, Yali helps her students participate in local events, auditions, and festivals. These include Junior Music Experience, Ohio Music Teachers Association (OMTA) Piano Play-A-Thon, OMTA Halloween Recitals, and OMTA Pre-Collegiate Buckeye Auditions.

In 2004, Yali began studying the Suzuki Method under Rita Hauck. Offering both traditional and Suzuki piano instruction, Yali accepts beginning students from age three and older.

Yali is fluent in Mandarin, Taiwanese, and Japanese. She is interested in drawing and she and her husband Ken have a lovely live “stuffed” animal: their Shetland sheepdog Bome.
