Alex Thio
Piano
Upon completion of the bachelor of music degree in piano performance at Grace College in Indiana, Alex Thio pursued his graduate degrees at University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. He holds the Master of Music degree in Piano Performance and continues to work toward completion of his doctoral studies in piano at the Conservatory.
Alex begins his seventh year of teaching at Cincinnati Music Academy. Besides teaching piano, Alex is an active collaborative artist to student and faculty recitals, and adjudicator for piano competitions and evaluation festivals. He is a Founding Teacher of Royal American Conservatory Examinations (RACE) and continues to implement this Certificate Program in his studio. Alex also teaches theory classes at CMA, preparing RACE candidates for their annual theory examinations.
Alex has traveled extensively throughout the United States also as a collaborative artist to King’s Brass, a 10-member brass group incorporating brass, percussion and piano/keyboard. He has recorded with the ensemble and appears in their “Christmas” and “Americana” albums, performing his original compositions and arrangements for piano and orchestra.
