Geanna SchwaegerlePiano |
Geanna Schwaegerle teaches using both traditional and Suzuki approaches. She adapts her method to each childs learning style. Geanna feels that learning the piano should be fun and encourages her students to practice using a reward system that involves stickers and prizes. She uses classical music and traditional method books as a foundation for learning piano and supplements other styles of music depending on the students interest, such as popular, sacred, patriotic and jazz. Geanna focuses on her students learning to play with good technique, and she also feels that learning music theory is important, too. Besides using a music theory workbook, she incorporates learning music theory through the use of the computer during a students lesson. Geannas students participate in many events throughout the year. She offers opportunities to perform in a fall and spring recital, group piano classes, Junior Music Experience, Ohio Federation of Music Clubs Junior Festival, Ohio Music Education Association Solo and Ensemble Events and the National Music Certificate Program (formerly known as the RACE program). |
Ms. Schwaegerle received her Bachelors Degree in Music Education (K-12) from Xavier University in 1997. She earned the McAuley Music Scholarship and a Music Grant while at Xavier. She also held an academic scholarship. In 1996, Geanna earned the Xavier University Music Honor award for talent and academics. While studying at Xavier, Geanna focused on classical voice and piano training. Geanna is currently completing her MM in Music Education at Miami University. She expects to receive this degree in the spring of 2009. Since 1997, Geanna has been teaching and directing full time music, chorus and drama in local schools in the Cincinnati area. Besides teaching in the classroom, Geanna started teaching private piano and voice lessons in 1998 out of her home. When recently getting married in July 2005, Geanna decided to move her studio out of her home and join CMA. With the expectation of her first child this August 2007, Geanna has decided to concentrate her efforts on her studio teaching and her family. Geanna is a member of the Ohio Federation of Music Clubs (OFMC), the Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA), the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) and is actively involved in Junior Music Experience. Geanna also maintains a current license in Music Education (K-12) from the State of Ohio. |
