Mr. McCready has had the pleasure of instructing many of our areas talented singers for over 13 years. He has become known as an excellent communicator of vocal technique. Before creating Cincinnati Music Academy with Amy Rose Immerman and Lenore Wilkinson in 1997, Mr McCready had the opportunity to explore the needs of the young professional singer as well as the avid avocational singer through his administrative service to other vocal institutions in the Cincinnati area. Mr. McCreadys students have received scholarships to many prestigious institutions including New York University, Northwestern University, Carnegie Mellon, Notre Dame, Boston University, Cincinnatis College Conservatory of Music, Miami University and others. Some of his students have been awarded roles on Broadway (such as the most recent recasting of Les Miserable) and operatic/oratorio venues with the following companies/organizations: Cincinnati Opera, Columbus Opera, Whitewater Opera, New York City Opera, St Louis Opera, Dayton Opera, Musica Sacra, May Festival Chorus, Lebanon Symphonic Chorus, Cincinnati Choral Society and Dayton Bach Society. His students have performed for Paramount and Disney cruise lines. Mr. McCready believes strongly in avocational and semi-professional vocalists who choose to live a normal life and also participate in musical performances. His students regularly perform in sacred venues that are too numerous to mention and community/semi-professional theater such as Footlighters, Loveland Stage Company, East Side Players, Stage First, Cincinnati Music Theater, Knowles Corner, Playhouse in the Park, Ensemble Theater, and Sunset players. As a community educator, Mr. McCready supports the community through advice to parents that are looking for a musical path for their childrens lives. This is why he and his partners at Cincinnati Music Academy handle each inquiry personally so that parents have the opportunity to speak directly with experienced music educators with regard to their childrens musical lives. This is also why Mr. McCready was excited to be invited to the Board of Childrens Choir of Greater Cincinnati, an organization that is recognized both regionally and nationally as an excellent means of musical enrichment. |
When not serving his 75 students or helping with administration and growth of Cincinnati Music Academy, he actively works on his own craft with William McGraw, Professor of Voice, University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music. Mr. McCready credits Mr. McGraw for helping him to not only give fine performances when called upon to do so, but more importantly, enable our areas vocalists with a truly keen ear and honest mentoring. Mr. McGraws true love of the art of singing is the inspiration for Paul McCreadys service to the community. Mr. McCready believes that all teachers need to regularly put their skills under scrutiny by allowing themselves to be critiqued by other professionals. Paul McCready credits the late Dr. Ira Zook and the Ohio University School of Music for his pursuit of a complete musical life and an education that stimulated life-long learning. Mr. McCready regularly sends the message that it is not the institutions that empower great musical talent but the individual efforts of devoted teachers that unlock the potential in all of us with regard to music or other disciplines. Mr. McCready also believes that performance experience is an integral part of being a fine teacher. He has appeared most recently as the tenor soloist in the Beethoven Ninth Symphony with the Lebanon Symphony, subordinate roles with Cincinnati Opera, leading roles with the National Opera Company, and many sacred performances that include a wide variety of religions and liturgies. Mostly, what Paul McCready does is teach, whether it be in his studio at Cincinnati Music Academy or speaking at clinics in our region and beyond. In 1995 and 1996 he was part of a local team that advised many of the singers and actors at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Paul and his wife Stephanie (an award-winning loan originator for The Huntington Bank) reside in Kenwood. |
