If youre looking for opportunities, youve come to the right place. Amy Rose Immerman is one of Cincinnatis most active and prominent piano teachers. Teaching since 1978, Mrs. Immerman holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance and Piano Pedagogy from Ohio University. Mrs. Immerman completed the entire Suzuki teacher training curriculum. She is a member of the esteemed College of Examiners of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto and examines students in music throughout Canada and the United States. Providing her students a wide variety of activities to choose from, Mrs. Immermans students participate in many local musical activities and events, including the National Music Certificate Program (formerly called RACE), Halloween Recitals, Junior Music Experience, Piano Play-a-thon (a fundraiser for the Cincinnati Ronald McDonald House), Student Showcase Recitals at the Aronoff Center for the Performing Arts and Cincinnati Art Museum, Junior Music Festivals (National Federation of Music Clubs), concerto and ensemble events, Composition Program (summers only), two annual studio recitals, and bi-monthly group classes. Offering traditional, Suzuki, and partner lessons, Mrs. Immerman accepts beginning students from age three through adults. Mrs. Immerman has one of the largest adult studios in Cincinnati with programs to suit adult schedules and interest levels. In addition to weekly lessons, adults meet three times a year for a potluck lunch and afternoon of playing with and for each other. Her practical program of study includes one weekly private lesson and a 15 minute computer session at the music theory LAB station. Utilizing the latest educational technology, students study the various aspects of music theory, including notation, rhythm, ear training, history and literature in age-appropriate environments. Curricula are created for each individual student to address their developmental requirements. |
Mrs. Immerman is one of three co-founders and owners of the Cincinnati Music Academy, established in 1997. She lectures regularly at area colleges and conservatories, as well as to regional piano teacher groups, state and national music conferences, including Austin, Houston, Indiana, Kansas City, Kentucky, Nashville, Ohio, Salt Lake City, Seattle, Toronto and Washington D.C. She has been published in Keyboard Companion magazine, American Music Teacher, OMTA News, MTNA Overture and BikeWriter, and serves as an adjudicator and coordinator for many competitions and events. Mrs. Immerman serves as a representative for Yamaha Music in their Passport to Music program which teaches keyboard lessons to passengers on luxury cruises. She served as President of Ohio Music Teachers Association from 2002-2004, presiding over a membership of 800 independent and college music teachers throughout Ohio. She is an active member in the OMTA Southwest District. Mrs. Immerman has been consulting with the Frederick Harris Music Company since 2003, and most recently was part of the core review group for the new Christopher Norton Connections series. She has developed a Getting Started guide for students entering the National Music Certificate Program, also published by Frederick Harris Music. She taught composition at the Wyoming Fine Arts Summer Camp program 2004-2006. One of her composition students was a national finalist in the MTNA Composition Competition. Another student earned the gold medal in the National Music Certificate Program for attaining the highest score state-wide for Grade 5. When not teaching or practicing the piano, Immerman enjoys cycling and traveling. |
