Chinami Ikeda

Piano

Born in Miyazaki, Japan, Chinami began studying when she was three years old. In her high-school years, she often flew to Tokyo for piano lessons. Teachers in Japan include Tamaki Nagaike, Kiyoko Kuwayama and Yuko Sekine, chair of the piano department at Tokyo Music University.

Upon completion of her high-school education, Chinami decided to continue her piano studies in the United States. She earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from Eastman School of Music, where she received a George Eastman scholarship. Her teachers at Eastman include Alan Feinberg and Dr. Elizabeth DiFelice; Chinami continues studying with Dr. DeFelice in New York City. Chinami received her Masters of Music degree in Piano Performance from University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music with a full-tuition award, studying under Frank Weinstock.

While studying at Eastman School of Music, Chinami gained extensive experience in accompanying in many fields. She is an accompanist for the dance department of University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. In addition, she worked last summer at the Interlochen Center for the Arts as an accompanist.
