Matt HoltGuitar |
Matt holds a bachelors degree in jazz studies from University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. While at CCM, he studied bass with Chris Burg, Jim Anderson, and Albert Lazlo. He has also studied with Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra bassist Rick Vizachero and Chicago-area bassists Steve Reinfranck and Eric Hochberg. He has been playing professionally since the age of fifteen, and currently performs weekly at Dee Falice Cafe with The New Sleepcat Band and with the Cincinnati-based acoustic trio The Sloes. Though Matt has been involved in music from an early age, starting with piano and then moving to french horn, it was in his early teens that he truly dedicated himself to music and discovered the bass. Originally from the Chicago area, he attended New Trier High School and performed in their award-winning orchestras and jazz ensembles, as well as the Chicago Youth Jazz Ensemble. |
Matt Moved to Cincinnati in 2002. While at CCM, he also studied piano, composition, and arranging. He performed in the CCM Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Lab Bands as well as in numerous combos, musical theater orchestras and the CCM Repertory orchestra. Matt began teaching in 2005 at Moeller Music in Westchester, where he developed a teaching concept based on student-directed learning. Believing that the study of music can be used by anyone as a tool for personal growth, and that everyone choses to pursue music in their own capacities, Matt enjoys teaching beginners and casual musicians as well as more advanced students. He works with students to conceive and attain their own individual musical goals. |
